The eastern Hessian countryside was turned upside down when Christian Weber aka CC POP discovered the train to Frankfurt – and weekends were never the same again. In 2000 Christian moved to Hamburg to study, and joined the team at electronic music distributor WORDANDSOUND. It wasn’t long before he had a residency at Click club and also the famous Golden Pudel – Hamburg’s nicest and loudest living room, where he still plays today, mostly back to back with his favorite DJ partner Marc Schneider. Stylistically Christian has always held a torch for house music, in its broadest sense – when minimal was at its peak, he started a deep house night soundtracked by the likes of Omar S, Moodymann, and Ron Trent. But his Frankfurt roots means Christian’s sets could be peppered with techno, electro, broken beat and much more. Even the hardest techno tracks need a taste of disco or funk to push the right buttons, and make you feel those things that you can’t name, hey says. In the end, CC POP is a servant to the dance floor, aiming to create that atmosphere where you can’t stop dancing even when you don’t recognise the tracks, caught up in the energy of the music.
